A unique group show now in its 3rd year, 85@85 is one of the most anticipated annual exhibitions of the Miami Art Season featuring 85 artists with works ranging from abstract to realism, from photography to oils, and everything in between.

Angela Curreri

Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in South Florida, Angi Curreri earned a BFA in art from The University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida in 1980 and an MFA in ceramics and drawing from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas in 1983. While in graduate school, she attended the University of Georgia’s summer Study Abroad program in Cortona, Italy through the generosity of a Ford Foundation Grant and two University of Kansas fellowships. Since then travel, dreams, memories, and personal experiences inspire her colorful work. Curreri’s clay works, drawings and collages have been exhibited at museums and galleries throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her work is included in private and public collections in the United States as well as in Canada, Japan and Australia. Since 1994 she has been involved in the public art arena in South Florida, completing two ceramics projects for Metro Dade County and a colored concrete project in Broward County in collaboration with her artist/landscape architect husband, Rick Yasko. Curreri has been teaching studio art full-time in the Department of Fine Arts at Barry University since 1985.
Juan Martinez, Ph.D

Art Historian, Juan Martínez is the director of the Art and Art History Department. Scheduled to publish a book on modern Cuban painter Carlos Enriquez soon. Martínez is currently working on Cuban-American artist Maria Brito. In addition to his numerous published works, he has been the curator of Cuban art exhibits at Lowe Art Museum and the Wolfson Art Gallery. Martínez received his M.A. and Ph.D in Art History from Florida State University where his dissertation was titled “Cuban Art and National Identity, The Vanguardia Painters: 1920 – 1940’s”.
